Reef Aquarium Reverse

What are CO2 regulators, calcium reactors, phosphate reactors, media reactors, and reverse osmosis?
I also want to know what a UV sterilizer is, I just didn't have room.
My questions for all of those things are:
What are they?
What do they do for saltwater aquariums?
Are they recommended?
Are the a necessity for a reef aquarium?
What do they do?
What are they for?
That will be great Peetr Peetr, send me a copy! Loser
Also, what is a good brand name?
CO2 regulator: controls the flow of CO2 from a CO2 tank - used in planted tanks and in connection with a calcium reactor in marine tanks
Calcium Reactor: adds calcium
Phosphate reactor: removes phosphate
Media Reactor: is a reactor like a phosphate reactor, different media produces different results.
Reverse Osmosis (RO): strips water down to almost pure water
UV sterilizer emits ultra violet light radiation as the water passes by, killing microorganisms like algae spores as they pass by.
Are they necessary? Not necessarily...
Of all you reference, the most important is the RO unit as it strips water down to about pure water. You then add the salt mix and get a nice and even mix every time without worrying about the chemistry of your tap water. It does not attach to the tank, rather it is used on tap water before you mix in salt and before you add to the tank. It is also useful to top off evaporative loss.
There are many different setups for reef tanks. Some rely on water changes to manage chemistry (best for beginners). Some use muds. Some use reactors. Some use liquid additives. etc. if interested on many different methods, check out "Ultimate Marine Aquariums: Saltwater Dream Systems and How They Are Created"

It all depends on the type of reef tank you want. For most corals that are not classified as "expert only" you do not need all that stuff.
